DAY TRIP: The Cotswolds

by

This was the view from our hotel window

This past week in London, I got to live like the locals thanks to my expat friends.  And that included escaping the city for some sunshine and country air in the Cotswolds.  We spent a night in the village of Painswick, and indulged in leisurely lunches, visited castles and practiced driving on the “wrong” side of the road.  There are a ton of little towns and great hotels — an ideal way to spend a day or two if you’re looking to explore England beyond it’s biggest city.  Here are just a few highlights from my trip.

Almost all of the cottages and homes that we saw are built of this pretty Cotswold stone

The grounds at Blenheim Palace were enormous…we could only cover a small portion of it

These pictures are beautiful! The history and elegance I feel from just looking at these shots makes me want to take a trip so badly!
